Asterix & Obelix: The Big Fight (French: Le Combat De Chefs) is a French 3D-animated adventure comedy miniseries created by Alain Chabat and co-directed by the latter and Fabrice Joubert. Based on the comic Asterix and the Big Fight, it was announced in 2021, and was initially scheduled to stream on Netflix in 2023[1] but was moved to April 30, 2025, with the miniseries streaming on said date. There are five episodes.
Unlike the 1989 film adaption and Attention Menhir!, the series stayed mostly faithful to the aforementioned issue rather than being loosely connected to another material. It received generally positive reviews from critics and an overall critical acclaim from audiences.
The series also has a few parodies to Marvel Comics as there's a character at the fair called Captain Armorica which is a parody of Captain America and he dresses in a similar fashion. Fulliautomatix being able to telekinetically bring his forging hammer into his hand during the gauls' epic battle with the romans is similar to Thor doing the same thing with Mjolnir and followed by Vitalstatistix yelling "Indomitables Assemble!" is similar to the phrase "Avengers Assemble!".
Synopsis[]
Rome is desperate to conquer the last independent village in Gaul and the home of Asterix and Obelix. The secret to the Gauls’ battle superiority is a magic potion, but when the potion master loses his memory, the villagers are left to their own devices against the might of Rome.[2]

Trivia[]
- It is the second animated television series in the Asterix franchise, with the first being Dogmatix and the Indomitables.
- Although this series is mostly based on the title, Asterix and the Big Fight, it has influences from Asterix and the Chieftain's Shield where Vitalstatistix wakes up in the morning with liver problems after eating too much the night before. In addition, the first episode is heavily based on How Obelix Fell into the Magic Potion When he was a Little Boy.
